Safety and code notes
- A ceiling fan must hang from a fan-rated box anchored to the framing. A standard light box will not hold a fan and can pull loose over time.

Can you put a ceiling fan where a light used to be?
Often, yes, but the box has to be fan-rated and anchored to hold the weight. If the old box is a standard light box, we replace it with a fan-rated box first.
